The british-international Phoenician Ship Expedition started in August 2007 in Arwad.
The intention was the circumnavigation of Africa in a reconstruction of a 2600 years old phoenician ship:
The Phoenicia- leaded by the experienced adventurer Philip Beale and approved by the National Geographical Society.
The main focus of this inofficial Website is the report from the crewmembers about the time they stayd on board on the Phoenicia.

A Griot is the guard and preserver of history. His drum will play for deeply human wrong, his kora will play for the magic of music, of art- for the cultur of all peoples of the countries the Phoenicia visit or pass on the way around Afrika.

Here you can find some information about the historic background of the
expedition- who the Phoenicians were, who told us that the Phoenician people
circumnavigated Africa 600 years before Christ- an achievement which was
claimed by Vasco da Gama in 1498, more than 2100 years later!
